meet Kayla. meet bellafaith design.

I’m Kayla and I am bellafaith design. Although I may collaborate on projects with other designers/developers from time to time, 95% of the time it’s just me from start to finish.

I am a self-taught web designer specializing in valid XHTML & CSS, with a touch of JavaScript & a bit of PHP. My current platform of choice is WordPress. And I’ve recently fallen in love with Thesis & Headway for WordPress.

A couple months ago, I finished a project using Silverstripe and was really amazed at the capabilities of that CMS {Content Management System}. A new version of Silverstripe has been released & I look forward to diving into it. I’m also an avid fan of WordPress, and I love expanding & customizing it to create solutions for my clients. When I get to a point where I can take on learning a new programming language, I want to learn Ruby on Rails.

Technical jargon aside, I’m the Christian, wife and mother of four, behind bellafaith design. From fashion design, to architecture, to graphic & web design, I have always had a passion for design. As a stay-at-home mom, a couple years ago, I desired a creative outlet, and thus bellafaith design was born.

I chose the name bellafaith design as it illuminates my Christian faith as how I see it, “a beautiful faith”, and is also a combination of my daughters’ names. My creative side loves everything graphic design: from illustrations to website layouts. And my nerdy side likes diving into code and seeing the letters, numbers & symbols typed in a simple text editor transform into a spectacular website when opened in a browser. I’m constantly learning something new, and challenges excite me.

I am a WAHM {work-at-home mom} to a 4-year-old, 3-year-old, 2-year-old and a 9-month-old, who are always on the go & keep me busy when they are awake. Therefore, most of my work is done in the morning, before they wake up, or at night, after everyone else is in bed. And because of the crazy hours I keep, email is the best way to reach me.

When I’m not working on the computer {or corralling kids}, you may find me baking, shopping, crafting {of any kind} or curled up with a good book. Occasionally, I’ll escape to my peaceful place :: which is browsing through books or magazines at Barnes & Noble with a Starbucks Caramel Macchiato in hand. And I long for the day I can go to a Panera or Starbucks with my computer & work {during the morning or daylight hours}.
