A look back in time: about a year ago…
Family Media Group approached me with a web site & a programmer already in place [really cool story on how they found me, it involves Facebook]. They wanted to give their site [kcparent.com, see the pic of their old site here] a facelift and create an even better resource for Kansas City area parents. Initially, they planned on keeping their original logo. However, once the initial redesign layout was presented to them, they decided to not only redesign their logos [see the pics of their old logos here], but to also redesign their print magazines.
While their in-house creative director got started on the magazine redesigns, I worked on the new logos. Once the logos for both KC Parent & KC Baby were finalized,
we were able to put the finishing touches on kcparent.com. One of those finishing touches was a custom, clickable map of the Kansas City area for their going places search.
Family Media Group also requested a custom design complementary to the new kcparent.com for their Mom Blogs. They wanted a design that was unique, modern and complemented kcparent.com. I packaged the design into valid XHTML, CSS, JavaScript & image files and supplied them to their programmer so he could incorporate the design with their CMS [content management system]. Additional customizations for KC Parent included an e-newsletter template, to match the new web design, and some other promotional materials.
